Tourism Hospitality


This course will enable you to work effectively within the industry, and afford you the opportunity of access and progression to a wide range of employment and further educational choices. Fundamental technical skills are combined with a wide range of learning opportunities designed to develop your personal capabilities and creativity. You will be proficient in the key operational areas of food and beverage and rooms division. In addition, you will also receive continuous coaching and career planning advice.

Career Opportunities
On completion, you will have the competence to work in a multi-functional capacity in positions of responsibility in a wide variety of operational roles within the international tourism and hospitality industry. You may also choose to specialise in a particular area and may progress to supervisory/management levels through accessing and participating in higher level courses.

Subject to minimum entry requirements prescribed by the Academic Councils of the Institutes of Technology, graduates are eligible to apply for direct entry to the second year of a range of higher level courses:

  • Trainee Management Development Programme
  • Bachelor of Business in Hotel and Catering Management
  • Bachelor of Business Studies in Bar Management


  • Students are required to undertake a 12 week (minimum) work placement, at the end of year 1 and year 2. Successful completion of these placements is an integral part of the certification process.

    This is a two year full-time course.
